Brigantine Beach, New Jersey…The Links at Brigantine Beach hosted Ai Miyazato’s Big Golf in USA skins challenge on Monday, May 29th. Three nationally recognized LPGA players, a large Japanese television crew, fans, and neighbors throughout the day attended the event. The event is part of a 12 week TV series that will air on TV Tokyo Channel 12 this summer in Japan. This television program, which was filmed by a large crew from Sponichi Creates, consists of a skins match worth $1,000 per hole between Ai Miyazato, Se Ri Pak, and Jennifer Rosales. Ai Miyazato, a rookie on the LPGA tour in 2006, is the host of the television program. She earned her spot on the tour with a 12-shot victory which also broke the 20-year-old qualifying tournament record. A very young player at 20, she has already won 13 events in Japan since 2003 and has placed 2nd on the JLPGA money list for 2004 and 2005. Se Ri Pak, a LPGA hall of fame candidate, has won 4 major championships with a total of 22 career victories on the LPGA tour. Her career earnings top over $8 million since her rookie year on the LPGA tour in 1998. Jennifer Rosales also no stranger to the LPGA tour has 20 Top-10 finishes with career earnings over $2 million on the LPGA tour.
The day began when the ladies teed off on Hole #1 at 11:00am on a gorgeous Memorial Day in Brigantine. Se Ri Pak quickly won the 1st skin worth $1,000 with a birdie on the opening par 5. They managed to tie the next four holes until Ai Miyazato made a birdie on hole #6 picking up $5,000 (5 skins). Holes #7 and #8 were tied with a par and then Miyazato closed out the front nine with a par on #9 and a total of $8,000 on the front nine. After a short break in The Links Bar and Grille, the back nine became packed with action. Once again, Pak made a birdie out of the gate on hole #10 gaining another $1,000. On Hole #11, Jennifer Rosales made a long birdie to win her first $1,000 for the day. Par on #12 and #13 by all 3 players set up a 3-hole win for Pak on hole #14. From here on in it was all Miyazato winning the last 4 holes with a birdie on #16 and then finishing with an eagle on hole #18. The results for the day were $12,000 for Ai Miyazato, $5,000 for Se Ri Pak, and $1,000 for Jennifer Rosales. Following the event the ladies signed autographs and interacted with the fans in true fashion. The City of Brigantine and The Links staff felt honored and privileged that these remarkable ladies chose to play The Links at Brigantine Beach .
